Ray M - Claimed to be checking my Sky package that I purchased recently. When I queried this, as the purchase wasn’t recent, he acknowledged that it wasn’t recent but it was a curtesy call to go over my package. Then wanted me to confirm it was me he was calling !…… no information given call terminated by me.

Anonymous - Called claiming to be from SKY checking on service being provided. Man with Merseyside / Cheshire accent, he ended call when I told him that he wouldn’t be getting any details from me. He’s tried earlier this week. Don’t trust it so I’ve blocked it

Understanding Phone Scams

Scammers often make unsolicited calls, posing as representatives from trusted organizations such as your bank, HMRC or the police.

These calls can be either automated or made by a real person. The caller may ask for personal information, like your banking details, or urge you to transfer money urgently.

Protect Yourself from Scam Phone Calls

Your first step is to report the number here on WhosCalled. However many phone providers offer tools to help protect you from scam and nuisance calls. These may include:

Caller display - see who’s calling before you answer

Incoming call blocking - block unwanted numbers

Anonymous call rejection - block calls from hidden numbers

Its always best to just hang up on a caller if you suspect that something isn't quite right, check WhosCalled and see if others have reported the number first.
